Lot Essay

Compare a very similar lute table in the collection of Mrs. Chen Mengjia, illustrated in Wang Shixiang, Classic Chinese Furniture: Ming and Early Qing Dynasties, London, 1986, pl. 118, and also in Wang Shixiang, Classic Chinese Furniture: Ming and Early Qing Dynasties, Hong Kong, 1990, vol. 1, p. 74, vol. II, B132, p. 120. For another similar lute table see R.D. Jacobsen, Classical Chinese Furniture in the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, 1990, pp. 104-105, cat. no. 32.
