A FINE PAIR OF HUANGHUALI SQUARE-CORNER CABINETS, FANGJIAOGUI
17th century
Each of massive rectangular form and excellent material, the single-board, floating panel doors fitted flush and molded and beaded where they meet the frame between the two single board horizontal panels above and below, the doors with rectangular inlaid lockplates, pulls and hinges of baitong, and opening to reveal a shelf and two drawers with baitong plates and pulls, above two wood hinged "trapdoors" with similar plates and ring-shaped pulls concealing the hidden compartment fronted by the lower horizontal panels above a beaded shaped apron joining the short legs, the top, demountable back and inner fittings all of huanghuali
