A Shibayama and silver filigree tray
Meiji Period
with shaped rim, inlaid in mother-of-pearl, coral and ivory with a central panel of birds and ducks beside a meandering river, amongst irises, peonies and a blossoming tree, on a gold lacquer ground decorated in hiramakie, takamakie, nashiji and kirigane, within borders panels of trailing flowers and foliage on a pierced silver filigree ground, the underside in nashiji -- 11½in. (29.2cms) long, (central flowerhead lost to lower panel).
