A Cloisonné Enamel Vase and Cover
Attributed to Namikawa workshop, Meiji Period (1880s)
Of standard ovoid form with tall shoulder and very short neck, the lid with a chrysanthemum-shaped knop, worked in gilt wire with coloured enamels on a variety of mottled enamel grounds with four panels of butterfly and flower designs, the shoulder and lid with stylised floral ornament, the base with a band of upstanding lappet ornament, applied with a gilt bronze rim and foot, slight bruise
