2 volumes, 2o (378 x 282 mm). Errata slip after introductory text in vol. I. 77 chromolithographic plates by Alice Ellis, Edith Bull and W.G. Smith, printed by Severeyns of Brussels, 4 black and white plates depicting portraits of T.A. Knight and John 1st Lord Viscount Scudamore, and scenes of Knight's birthplace and the Cordon Pear Wall, text illustrations of cross-sections of fruit (some occasional pale spotting and light browning at edges, remnants of tissue guard adhered to plates 51 and 55). Contemporary red half morocco, spine gilt, edges gilt (some light wear to extremities). Provenance: Massachusetts Horticultural Society, Stickney Fund (bookplate dated 1879; stamps).
