The V8 Volante made its debut in 1978 and has to be one of the most elegant open-topped cars of its time. With its traditional clean-cut line, it exudes the sheer elegance and quality of a hand-built machine. The Volante offers the very best of British craftsmanship and the strength of design that has been the hallmark of Aston Martin. Standard equipment included a power-operated soft-top and polished burr walnut trim.

This manual Volante was supplied new in February 1983 to N. Springer. Its service book records original maintenance by Ian Mason and later Automobile Roos of Holland.

In 1988, whilst in the ownership of N. Channing and when the mileage was just over 20,000 the car returned to the Aston Martin works to be upgraded to full Vantage specifications. This work comprised modified cylinder heads, camshafts etc. as well as rebuilding the front and rear suspension, and fitting of Vantage wheels to cater for the increased performance. At this time, the front valance was exchanged for the then current style unit, and a small diameter steering wheel was fitted.

The car was acquired by the present owner in October 1994. Since then, it has been regularly maintained by renowned specialists for the marque, RS Williams of Cobham. Invoices totalling over £30,000 are on file for work including attention to the paint, Connollising of the interior, new hood and engine overhaul (in 2000). A Cobra alarm package has also been added.

Today, the car presents well, and its attractive, ever popular livery together with personalised registration plate discretely hide its age, while it benefits from the enhanced performance of the later Vantage derivative, which can be fully enjoyed through its manual transmission.
