A ROMAN GREEN STONE INTAGLIO OF A HARVESTER CUTTING CORN

With figure of harvester bent over, in one hand he holds two ears of corn about to cut them with the sickle in his other hand, three ears of corn in front, on groundline, 0.7 x 0.8 cm., 1.9 cm. across inner hoop; and a Roman green glass intaglio with a sacro-idyllic scene of a herdsman and grazing cow under a tree, 1st Century A.D., 1.1 x 0.8 cm., 2.3 cm. across inner hoop, both in later ring settings (2)
