Lot Essay

A similar pair of candelabra, with four lights, is in the James de Rotheschild collection at Waddesdon Manor. A second pair can be found at Warwick Castle and a third, bearing the C couronné poinçon were sold from the collection of Cassel van Doon at the Galerie Charpentier, Paris, 23 March 1972, lot 42.
A pair with five lights and on a base with four sphinxes was sold from the collection of Mrs. Gaby Salomon, Sotheby's London, 12 November 1965.
