Lot Essay

The bronze relief of the hero Perseus bears the signature of the Parisian sculptor Edmund Louis Charles Tassel, who was an exhibitor at the 1890 Salon. Another version of this plaque was sold in these Rooms, 22 March 2001, lot 201.
