An Early Figure Netsuke
Edo Period (Early-Mid 18th Century)
Carved boxwood, in the form of a sennin balanced on his left leg, his right leg raised, his left hand grasping a crutch and his his right hand catching the right leg of an oni which crouches on his right shoulder, the sennin's face looking upwards in typical 18th-century style, the details well carved and stained, the himotoshi formed by a hole in the back of the right sleeve connecting with another just beneath the girdle, slight restoration
