A smaller box with similar carved design with only three lacquer colours, red, yellow and black is part of the Idemitsu Collection and illustrated in Ancient Chinese Arts in the Idemitsu Collection, Tokyo 1989, no.381. Other tixi lacquer circular boxes with scroll patterns almost identical to the current box are illustrated in J.P. Fang, Treasures of the Chinese Scholar, 1997, p.145, fig.147. , in Hai-wai Yi-chen, Chinese Art in Overseas Collections : Lacquerware, published by the National Palace Museum, Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China, 1987, p.130, pl.127 and in J.C.Y Watt and B.
