A FRENCH ORMOLU HALL LANTERN OF LOUIS XVI-STYLE

Of monumental proportions, the domed berried acanthus-cast ceiling rose above a massive canted rectangular and circular chain supporting a drum with pierced acanthus scrolls above putti emblematic of the winds, each issuing a ropetwist and foliate baluster chain, the glazed drum with egg and dart moulded cornice and panelled pilaster strips above a pierced balustraded base, the central stem supporting two tiers of four branches, each spirally-turned and with dished drip-pan, above a berried boss finial, drilled for electricity, numbered overall
