A CHINESE EXPORT ARMORIAL LACQUER GAMES BOX MADE FOR THE IBERIAN MARKET WITH THE SPANISH ROYAL ARMS
Late 18th early 19th Century
Decorated in gilt with sprays of bamboo and other flowers, with butterflies circling, the hinged lid containing a fitted interior with red silk lining with paling pattern, enclosing mother-of-pearl gaming counters, each with elaborate foliate engraving in relief and with a coat-of-arms inscribed PLUS ULTRA, the largest disc inscribed in Spanish Pag as del Volter ete......
