AN ENGLISH SILVER-HILTED SMALL-SWORD
London silver hallmarks for 1772
With colichemarde blade of hollow triangular section etched at the forte with a trophy of arms, a Classical warrior, and the spurious date '1561', the hilt with oval shell (repaired) cast, chased and pierced throughout with scrolls involving Ferris-wheel-like devices within narrow borders of repeated nail-head ornament, and later grip bound with silver wire, silversmith's mark of William Kinman
