Lot Essay

A fascinating world chart, profusely annotated by Louis de Freycinet with the predominant wind patterns and their maximum intensities, in the equatorial and torrid zones. Freycinet draw up this chart in 1840, some three years after he published his final volume of his 'Voyage autour du Monde'. Obviously still inspired by his earlier explorations, Freycinet was still putting his scientific researches together, even at the age of 61.
