The saccharometer has an ivorine plaque on the lid of the case for IMPROVED BATES SACCHAROMETER EXCISE 3508 DRING & FAGE 19 & 20 Tolley Street, LONDON MAKERS TO THE REVENUE OF THE UNITED KINGDOM & COLONIES. The saccharometer itself has a scale 0-30 and an engraved motif of a dagger. There are five detachable plumb weights engraved 1000, 1030 (x2), 1060 and 1090. The fitted case is lined with black plush and has two brass hooks -- 21cm. (8¼in.) wide;
and a brass hydrometer in a fitted case, with a ruler signed J. LONG 20 LITTLE TOWER ST LONDON with a sliding temperature scale and four weights, each stamped with a JL monogram. The case is lined with blue plush and has space for a thermometer. There are two brass hooks and a space on the lid for a plaque (missing) -- 24.5cm. (9 5/8in.) wide
and a brass hydrometer stamped DICAS PATENTEE. There is an ivory ruler signed GAMMAGE LATE DICAS PATENTEE LIVERPOOL, thirty (of thirty-six) weights, most bearing the ID monogram, some with JL. The lid of the case is lined with a red silk pad and there is a plaque on the outside for A. DICAS LIVERPOOL PATENTEE 5435 -- 21.9cm. (8 5/8in.) wide
and a brass hydrometer signed DICAS LIVERPOOL PATENTEE, with twenty-six (of thirty-six) weights, each stamped ID. The case has space for rule and thermometer, and a blue silk cushion in the lid -- 21.6cm. (8½in.) wide (4)
