Lot Essay

Together with its right-facing pendant, Faisan, tête tournée à gauche was first offered in Barye's 1845 catalogue. At the 1876 Atelier sale, the modèle was acquired and subsequently edited by Barbedienne. It was later in the collection of Eduardo Guinle (d. 1941) and was sold in these rooms 25 April 2003, lot 84 ($10,755).

Another cast of this model, formerly in the collection of Eduardo Guinle (d. 1941), was sold in these rooms, 25 April 2003, lot 86 ($2,868).
