A GERMAN EXECUTIONER'S SWORD
Second half of the 17th Century
With broad flattened double-edged blade rounded at the tip and with half-length fuller on each face, one with a punishment wheel and the other with a gibbet, both inlaid with latten, the iron hilt retaining much of its original silvered finish and comprising straight swelling quillons of octagonal section, octagonal plummet-shaped pommel, and cord-bound grip originally with a tassel at the top and bottom
