THE BEATLES. Typed manuscript of their interview conducted by Jean Shepherd, published in Playboy, February 1965. Together 47 pages, numbered 7 to 52, 4to, with some editorial corrections.
THE BEATLES INTERVIEW. Comparison of the present typescript with the published interview shows many subtle changes in content. Playboy retained the structure of the interview, though reworked some of its casual atmosphere. The original version is a bit looser and more conversational in tone compared to the more polished published version.
[With:] Four black-and-white individual portraits by Dennis Cameron of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, published in the interview.
KLEIN, Allen. Photocopy of four-book sheets for his interview conducted by Craig Vetter, published in Playboy, November 1971. 54 pages, 4to.
THE MANAGER OF THE BEATLES SPEAKS OUT. The interview bears many revisions, including numerous additions by Klein. Klein's manuscript additions define his personal feelings about some of the Beatles, as well as his own ambitions: he adds a series of questions and answers at the end which show where he'd like to go in the future. "PLAYBOY: Who would you like to handle? KLEIN: Dylan, Joe South, Keith Richards, Paul Simon, John Fogherty. Heavy talents. All of them create music that's really moved this generation. PLAYBOY: Do you think you'll get any of them? KLEIN: If I work hard."
[With:] Yellow and pink four-book sheets of the interview.
