A detailed display model of the Italian Line ship S.S. Rex
Anonymous (American, 20th century)
A well detailed, large scale model of the famous Blue Riband Italian ship. The hull of the model is built up from the solid with a red bottom, white waterline and black topsides. The topsides are painted white above the sheer and the decks of the model are planked in basswood. The model is very well detailed which include: anchors, anchor chain, bollards, cargo cranes, hatches, masts and standing rigging, 24 life boats rigged on davits, a pair of funnels painted in Italian Line livery, sky lights window and port holes, pool, umbrellas, chairs, ventilators, ladders, cranes, searchlight, along with other details. The model is mounted on a pair of pedestals in a glass and mahogany display case on a mahogany stand.
