Provenance
Installed 1926 in the Plaza Cinema, Piccadilly - a flagship cinema for the Paramount Corporation. It was the only Model 260 in the U.K., and cost £5796 11 3d. It was the largest organ in a British cinema at the time, and the first to be installed on a lift. After removal from the Plaza in 1967, the organ was installed in a private house and then stored for over fifteen years in the Glasgow area. The 32ft Diaphone was too big to remove from the Plaza. The original blower has been replaced by a five-stage Discus blower, and the piano, Toy Counter and three sets of bass string offsets are unrestored and not installed. The Chysoglott is installed but not connected.
This lot is to be removed from Ashorne Hall entirely at the purchaser's risk and expense, and must not be removed until after March 28 2004. The services of Paul Camps, who installed the organ would be available by arrangement for dismantling and re-assembling on the purchaser's behalf.
