Lot Essay

One of the four "Orion" class battleships (her sisters were Monarch; Orion and Thunderer) ordered under the 1909 programme, H.M.S. Conqueror was commissioned in November 1912 for service with the Second Battle Squadron. Joining the Home Fleet in August 1914 she was sent to Scapa Flow where she sustained serious bow damage in collision with her sister Monarch that December. At Jutland she sustained no damage or casualties and was sold for breaking in 1922.
