Provenance
This infamous dog is the property of Bob Carolgees. He created and physically made this actual dog in a record shop he co-owned in Gateacre, Liverpool in the mid 1970s.
When Bob and Spit started making regular television appearances on Tiswas, he made a 'back-up' Spit which was used more often in cabaret and is still owned by Bob (although he is in very poor condition).
In 1996 he made a third Spit which he still owns and uses to date.
This Spit is the original one used in countless TV performances from Tiswas and Surprise Surprise onwards.
Special notice
No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis

Lot Essay

TISWAS - this cult Saturday morning childrens television programme ran from 1974-1982. Presenters included Chris Tarrant, Sally James, Lenny Henry and Bob Carolgees. The programme was revolutionary and unique at the time with a mix of pop stars, custard pie and bucket of water throwing, the Phantom Flan Flinger, the rather sexy Sally James and just general mayhem.

Surprise, Surprise! was a LWT show presented by Cilla Black. An integral element of ITV's Sunday schedule from 1984 to the early 90s. Bob and Spit were co-hosts.

All rights and license to Spit the Dog still belong to Bob Carolgees.
