THE BEATLES 'BUTCHER COVER' ALBUM
1966
The infamous 'butcher cover' image on the "Yesterday and Today" album; Capitol release, first state, mono, T-2553 noted in upper right-hand corner, partially sealed, vinyl has black label with rainbow-colored band.
12 1/2 x 12 1/2 inches
Provenance
Starting in 1964, the current owner of this piece was the president of the Terre Haute, Indiana Official Beatles Fan Club which was awarded 'Charter Fan Club' status by the New York City Headquarters. Because of her position, she received Beatles albums in the mail one week before they were available in stores, this 'butcher cover' being one of them. She opened it, played it for a week and then packed it away (for thirty-eight years!) as the 'trunk cover' replacement album was sent to her shortly afterwards. Her 'letter of provenance' attesting to this is included.
