Labelled MAURICE DUPONT/Luthier/20, Port-Boutiers/16100 COGNAC (France)/Modèle MD 30 Date Oct 1995, marked at the peghead MAURICE/DUPONT/COGNAC, bound rosewood back and sides, spruce top, mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, length of back 18 5/8 in. (47.3 cm.); and hardshell case with adhesive tape inscribed by Lee Dickson Auction #5/Dupont/Maca'f Style; accompanied by the original dealer's price tag and two letters, undated, to Eric Clapton and Lee Dickson, the text pertaining to the set up and adjustment of the guitar, signed by Fred (probably Fred Waleki)

Eric Clapton bought this guitar for collecting purposes from Westward Music in LA in 1995. Initially he used it a little in the studio. (2)

EC: This came from LA. It would have been bought out of my love for Jango Rinehart and Gypsy guitar playing.

LD to EC: At the time you were looking for a Maccaferri. We never really found a good one...and you picked this up [in 1995]. You messed around with it in the studio for a few days, when we were doing overdubs..and so on. ..
