Lot Essay

The present work is a hand-painted reproduction of a larger watercolour (Bunt 532) painted in Taormina, Sicily, 1909-1910, when Brangwyn was staying with his friend R H Kitson. It resembles the Procession of the Magi, a local religious festival. The present work was reproduced as No 37 of the Brangwyn Portfolio, size 35 x 47cm (13.75 x 18.5in). In these works Brangwyn and his assistants hand-painted prints with watercolour or pastel.

We are grateful to Dr Libby Horner for her assistance with cataloguing this lot.
