Lot Essay

Born in Blairgowrie, Farquharson moved to Edinburgh in 1872. Largely self-taught, he was influenced by the Hague School of painters, and in addition to his views of England and Scotland he found many of his subjects in Holland. In 1882 he moved to London and later settled in Sennen Cove in Cornwall.
