The sayagaki and registration document both attribute the blade to Rai Kunimitsu, of Yamashiro province. The blade characteristics are in accordance with this attribution.

Unsigned, attributed to Rai Kunimitsu, Late Kamakura Period (14th Century)
Sugata [configuration]: honzukuri, iori-mune, toriizori, extended chu-kissaki
Kitae [forging pattern]: koitame with jinie
Hamon [tempering pattern]: suguha of konie, ko-midare, ashi, utsuri, yubashiri, jifu
Boshi [tip]: o-maru, togari
Horimono [carvings]: bohi on both sides
Nakago [tang]: suriage, two holes
Habaki [collar]: double, copper-gilt
In shirasaya [plain wood scabbard]: Takenaka ko [Lord Takenaka], Taisho 7th (1918)
Nagasa [length from tip to beginning of tang]: 69.4cm.
Sori [curvature]: 2cm.
Motohaba [width at start of tempered edge]: 3.2cm.
Sakihaba [width before tip]: 2.2cm.
