8° (136 x 92mm). Woodcut architectural border dated 1534 on title, woodcut initials. (a1.8 and n1.8 reinforced at margin, a few marginal repairs, title and last leaf soiled.) Modern vellum. Provenance: Hugh Eccles (inscription on title) -- Hille Benson (inscription on last leaf).

"A popular, sensible treatise on healthful living, with sound and practical advice on the recognition of the commoner symptoms of disease, as well as what to do about them" (Hunt). The 1541 edition was the first to contain Elyot's preface replacing a dedication to Cromwell. Hunt 155 note; STC 7650 (1560?) or 7651 (1561?); Norman 705A.
