An English brass striking lantern clock, mid 17th century
With silvered 1in. wide Roman chapter ring with trident half hour markers, the dial plate engraved with leaves and thistles and centred by an alarm-setting disc, later single hand, the one day movement now with verge escapement and with countwheel strike, alarm train now lacking; later side doors and back plate -- 15½in. (39cm.) high
