The Eldorado Seville was the most prestigious two-door coupe Cadillac in the 1957 range. A development of the Series 62, the Eldorado was based on a tubular cross-frame that allowed the car to sit low and used a 6 litre V8 engine with hydraulic tappets that was common across the whole range, along with the usual four speed automatic transmission. The cars were face-lifted for 1957 with new grilles, and more pronounced tail fins. Weighing in at nearly 5,000lbs, the Eldorado coupe was produced in fairly limited numbers, just 2,100 cars being built in 1957, priced at $7,286.
This car has had its bodywork and mechanics fully restored in England and the brown leather and grey cloth trim has been reupholstered. Beautifully finished in burgundy and white, the Eldorado drives well and the owner reports that everything works. Fitted with factory air- conditioning, power assisted steering, power seats and power brakes. A rare factory option also fitted to this particular car is the autronic eye, which automatically dips the headlights as another car approaches. We are told that this car was sold new in America and imported into England in the 1990s, the indicated mileage now showing stands at 57,000 miles. It comes with U.K. registration documents, current MOT and road fund license.
This imposing motorcar epitomised the all-American image of the 1950s and the car we offer here is a fine example of the model.
