GREGORY PECK HANDWRITTEN LETTER IN DISPLAY
1965
A three page letter written and signed by Gregory Peck in black ink on stationery for his film Arabesque (Universal) to a New York newspaper columnist. In the letter, Peck negatively reacts to a story that appeared in a London paper about a supposed conflict between Princess Margaret and himself over theatre tickets. In part: "As you know, it is always surefire copy in this country to combine royalty and show business names. So he fired up a little controversy with no basis whatever in fact. I don't care much for being pictured as indignant and scornful." Peck goes on to say that Princess Margaret has always been "kind and gracious" to him. Peck was in England at the time to shoot Arabesque with Sophia Loren. Also present is the handwritten envelope Peck used to send the letter, which bears the film's logo and the stars names, as well as an 8 by 10 color photo of Peck from the 1960s.
