KURT COBAIN LETTER TO COURTNEY LOVE
1991
A two page handwritten letter from Nirvana's Kurt Cobain to Courtney Love faxed to her from a hotel in Sheffield, England. Written on two sheets of lined notebook paper in black ballpoint ink, Cobain begins the letter with a detailed description of hallucinating while on acid. Then he begins to write about his life while on tour. Reads in part: "I really do care but I'm not very convincing. He's sad. I'm sad. My throat is a swollen tumor, Blood sausage - colon. I puke air after coughing. It was morning by the time I fell asleep after talking to you. 200 lbs. I thought of a great idea for our video. Oh, forget it." The undated letter was most likely written November 28, 1991, the night of Nirvana's appearance on the BBC series Top Of The Pops, which is written about briefly in the letter. Also present is a letter from the receptionist at the hotel to whom Cobain gave the letter after it was faxed.
