Lot Essay

The theme of centaurs and nymphs, derived from the story of Nessus and Deianira, seems to have been among Domenico favourite subjects, and formed the basis for an important series of drawings (J. Cailleux, 'Centaurs, Fauns, Female Fauns and Satyrs among the drawings of Domenico Tiepolo', The Burlington Magazine, June 1974, Supplement).
