Lot Essay

On Easter Sunday at Biddenden, Kent, an endowment allowed the distributuion of cakes to the Parishioners. These cakes were impressed with a pair of sisters. The village tradition asserts that they were Siamese twins who died within hours of each other at the age of thirty. A hand-bill entitled 'A short but concise Account of Elizabeth and Mary Chalkhurst' relates the story.
