A Viennese ormolu grande sonnerie carriage clock
Circa 1820
The case with elongated octagonal plinth cast with leaves and stars and resting on bun feet, the clock case resting on two addorsed reposing lions and surmounted by a foliate cast handle with integral push repeat button, the white enamel Roman dial with blued steel hands, the movement with circular brass plates, fusee for the going train with verge escapement and vertical three-arm balance planted on the backplate within a polished steel bridgecock, going barrels for the grande sonnerie strike on blued steel gongs of circular section fixed to a foliate engraved bar across the backplate
