PARTIALLY PRICED, ruled in red, in a contemporary hand. Folkes succeeded Sir Hans Sloan as President of the Royal Society; he also served as President of the Society of Antiquaries and was a friend of Newton's, owning many scientific books. The sale of his library lasted fifty-six days.

Dr. Mead was the best-known English physician of his time. His patients included George I, Sir Isaac Newton, Sir Robert Walpole, Alexander Pope, and Bishop Burnett. His library was one of the largest English libraries of the day, consisting of more than 100,000 volumes on the various branches of knowledge.
