Lot Essay

London Gazette: 28 June 1940 For submarine actions against the enemy. The following recommendation has been extracted from official sources: For his conspicuous example of coolness and efficiency during depth charge attack, and for exceptional zeal and efficiency during ten war patrols carried out since H.M.S. TETRARCH was commissioned in January 1940.

H.M.S. Tetrarch was built by Vickers Armstrong at Barrow and launched in November 1939. She was subsequently sunk in unknown circumstances on 2nd November 1941 whilst on passage from Malta to Gibraltar.
