1965 VAUXHALL CRESTA PB FOUR DOOR SALOON
Registration No. HYF 633C
Chassis No. 5100320
Model No. PBD51
White with Dark Terracotta roof
Engine: six cylinders in line, overhead valves, 3,294cc, 115bhp at 4,200rpm; Gearbox: Powerglide two speed automatic; Suspension; front, coil springs and wishbones, rear, semi-elliptic springs; Brakes: servo-assisted discs to the front, drums to the rear. Right hand drive.
The Cresta had been introduced as an upper market version of the Velox in 1954. Now manufactured using unitary construction, Vauxhall's model range was based upon the same basic hull with power and specification differentiating the various models. This changed when the all-new Victor replaced the Wyvern, and the Viva further expanded the options, but the Velox and the Cresta continued to share most components until the end of 1965 when the advent of the PC marked the demise of the Velox. The last of these twin-character cars, the PB series improved upon its predecessor with modernised aesthetics and an updated cabin. Mechanically it was nearly identical to the PA, but standard equipment now included servo-assisted disc brakes at the front, and there was the option of overdrive or, from the Spring of 1965, the Powerglide two speed gearbox.
The car featured here is a late PB series, featuring the Powerglide gearbox, and looks superb in its white paintwork set off by the Terracotta Red roof. The body is in good condition although its white paint has clearly been renewed in places. The original red interior is also in good condition, showing as little wear as would be expected from a car showing a mere 32,381 miles. This car is sold without documentation.
