Lot Essay

The figure on the left of the recto is related to the set of prints of The Rest into the flight into Egypt (De V. 10-17), dated by Phyllis Dearborn Massar to 1641. The closest in the series is the circular print De V. 15 for which a drawing is at the Louvre (F. Viatte, Dessins de Stefano della Bella, Paris, 1974, no. 119).
