Details
A WHITE JADE BOWL AND COVER
19TH CENTURY
Of octafoil form standing on four cabriole feet, pierced and carved with two butterfly handles suspending loose rings, the domed cover surmounted by a conforming flat finial, the highly polished stone of an even opaque cream tone, one handle repaired
7¼ in. (18.5 cm.) wide
Provenance
One section of handle is restored, approx. 1.3 cm. long. There is a short crack on the other handle. The butterflies each has a shallow minor chip, and there is a polished small rim chip on the cover. There is a small area on the outer rim of cover which is slightly flattened. This appears to have been executed during manufacture and not a later damage.
Special notice
No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium, which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
