KANGXI (1662-1722)
Of square form with canted corners, sloping shoulder and slightly flaring neck, brightly and boldly enamelled in vibrant tones, one broad side with a kingfisher swooping down towards a lotus pond, another with a blue jay in flight above tree peony and rockwork, the other two sides with figures in conversation and fishermen in boats in extensive riverscapes, the corners each with squirrels amongst brightly-coloured vine, the shoulder with panels of archaistic vessels alternating with butterflies amongst flowering foliage divided by rose sprays at the corners, the neck with similar panels, each panel edged with a narrow green band, base pierced
