Lot Essay

A larger vase and cover, but very similarly decorated to the vase in the present lot, is illustrated by M. Beurdeley and G. Raindre, Qing Porcelain, Famille Verte, Famille Rose, London, 1987, p. 130, fig. 185. Another vase and cover very similarly decorated, but no size mentioned, is illustrated by J. van Goidsenhoven, La Famille Rose, Brussels, 1973, colour plate, p. 25. A smaller vase and cover, also similarly decorated but with cockerels in the two largest panels, is in the Lady Lever Art Gallery, illustrated by R. L. Hobson, Chinese Porcelain and Wedgwood Pottery, London, 1928, plate 5, no. 390 and p. 65.
