Lot Essay

Following a composition by Andrea Solario of which two versions are considered autograph: a signed painting in the Museum der Bildenden Künste, Leipzig; the other in the John G. Johnson Collection, Philadelphia Museum of Art (see D.A. Brown, Andrea Solario, 1987, nos. 50 and 51).
