Lot Essay

Killarney work, naive elaborately-inlaid furniture and smaller items, was made for the tourist trade using bog oak, arbutus and other coloured woods. They often included pictorial views of local Killarney buildings and attractions. (B.Austen, Tunbridge Ware and Related European Decorative Woodwares, London, rev. ed.,1992, pp.175-193).
