Lot Essay

By making 'environmental' sculptures out of found materials, and then allowing the works to naturally disintegrate, the only remaining records of Goldsworthy's works are the photographs of his projects. This work from his Japanese series incorporates the Taoist notion of yin-yang, the balance of opposites. The photo-text accompanying the image offers a haiku-style note on its creation.

A laminated typewritten certificate of authenticity signed, dated and numbered '2/5' by the artist in ink will accompany this lot.
