1. Mrs Wallbanke Childers, either Selina Gideon, daughter of Lord Eardley and wife of Col. John Walbanke [sic], or her daughter-in-law, wife of John Wallbanke Childers, MP from 1833.
2. Harriet Kinloch (d.1850), daughter of Sir Alexander Kinloch, Bt. She married the Reverend Lord Thomas Hay (d.1890), the 5th son of the 7th Marquess of Tweeddale, in 1833.
3. Mrs Denison, mother of the notorious Marchioness Conyngham, mistress of George IV and wife of Joseph Denison.
4. Lady Henrietta Georgiana Marcia Lascelles Iremonger Chatterton (1806-1876), married Sir William Chatterton, Bt., in 1824. Author of Home Sketches and Foreign Recollections, 1841. Or perhaps her mother-in-law.
5. Miss Wilmina Maclean Clephane (1803-1863), one of three daughters of Major-General Douglas Maclean Clephane of Torloisk, who were protegées of Sir Walter Scott. Married Baron de Norman in 1831 (see lot 87).
6. Arthur Johnstone Blackwood (1808-1874), 2nd son of the 1st Bt. He became a Gentleman Usher to Queen Victoria.
7. Mademoiselle Delphine Gay (1804-1855), later Madame Girardin, a poet and novelist born at Aix-la-Chapelle, she married the Parisian publicist and polemicist Emile de Girardin (1806-1881). Among her works were Lady Tartufe and La Joie fait Peur.
8. Harriet Margaret Cheney (1810-1852), married Robert Pigot (d.1873) in 1842, son of Colonel Robert Pigot and grandson of the 2nd Bt. He married, secondly, Anna Maria Clinton (see lot 45).
9. Marchesa Clelia Durazzo (1760-1830), a member of an old Genoese noble family. She was a life-long botanist and with her husband, Giuseppe Grimaldi, founded the botanical gardens in Genoa.
10. Henry Edward Fox (1802-1859), friend of Edward Cheney from 1830. He succeeded as the 4th Lord Holland in 1840.
11. Mrs Lethbridge, perhaps Jessy Catherine Hesketh (d.1801), who married Thomas Buckler Lethbridge¹¹, later the 2nd Bt. (1815) in 1796; or Anne Goddard (d.1857), whom he married in 1803.
12. Hortense de Beauharnais (1783-1837), step-daughter of Napoleon, wife of Louis Bonaparte, King of Holland, and mother of Napoleon (III), (see introduction for further details).
13. Mrs Mary Anne Cary Dalton of Tor Abbey (d.1842), married (1) John Dalton; (2) as second wife, Sir J H Thorold, 10th Bt.; (3) as third wife, Admiral Sir Charles Ogle, 2nd. Bt. (1775-1858).
