Lot Essay

Painter and embroiderer Constance de Nerée tot Babberich (1858-1930) is known for producing needleworks after her own designs and those of her son, Carel de Nerée. Her own designs often show impressionist landscapes and symbolic female figures, usually executed in pastel colours. In the first decade of the twentieth century she exhibited at the avant-garde artist movement "De Onafhankelijken" in Amsterdam.
