Royal 2° (376 x 255mm). Collation: [14 2-510 68 7-810 98 1010]. 89 leaves (of 90), table bound at end. 61 lines, double column. Type: 5:93G. 1- 7-line initials, chapter numbers supplied in red, red underlining. (Without blank leaf 1/4, marginal repair to one leaf, a few small wormtracks in the first two leaves affecting a few letters, a few tiny marginal wormholes, first and last leaf somewhat soiled.) 18th-century calf, wide gilt fillet with central arabesque on sides, edges gilt and gauffererd (rebacked, corner repairs). Provenance: early marginal annotations -- Robert Kirk, M.D. (armorial bookplate).
FINE COPY. The earliest record of Eggestein is a letter of protection as a printer, dated 31 March 1466. BMC notes that the wording of this letter suggests that Eggestein had already been at work prior to this date, while the latest date connected with any work with his types is 1482.
