THE DAMASK 18TH CENTURY AND LATER, THE PELMETS 19TH CENTURY
Each panelled and scroll-carved pelment centred by a shell motif and surmounted by a pierced lambrequined cresting, hung with a tasselled and shaped valance, the curtains with polychrome-decorated silk, metal and gold-thread floral sprays stitched on the damask, some replacements to panels of red damask, with four embroidered and stitched tie-backs, and asymmetrical cartouche-shaped giltwood brackets
the pelmets: 84½ in. (215 cm.) wide; the curtains 11 ft. 8 in. (355 cm.) high; overall height with pelmet 13 ft. 3 in. (405 cm.) (2)
